If Pope Dreams is a series, why is there only one book?

I set out on this journey with a story in mind, Pope Dreams: Pope Peter the Improbable, is just the first part of that story. Expect to see part 2 of the story (the outline for this part is provided in part 1), by mid-2023. I hope to close off the story with a 3rd volume by the end of 2023 or early 2024.

Don’t ask me how the story ends because frankly, I don’t know. Pope Dreams is based on the fantastical premise that all the cardinals have a dream where they see my main protagonist, a married father of 6 living in Dublin Ireland, Peter MacDonald, as the next Pope. Once this premise was established, the engineer in me kicked in and the rest of the story had to follow a logical and credible path albeit with minor divine infringements along the way. So, despite these works being fictional, I can’t just make thing happen because I want them to, I need to convince the reader (and myself), that my characters are making logical decisions based on the situations I have placed them in. The whole thing is a puzzle, and for Peter MacDonald’s sake, I sincerely hope there is a solution.
